How To Increase Speed: The Missing Piece To The Puzzle

Increase Speed

Here it is…

The missing piece to increasing your running speed:

Your FEET.

Simple, right?

It doesn’t take a genius to see that the feet would HAVE to be important in increasing someone’s running speed.

They’re involved in every step, they are the connector between the ground and the rest of your body, and simply, everything goes through your feet.

I’ll explain…

When you’re sprinting, running, cutting, jumping or anything else fast or explosive, you’re developing lots and lots of power from your hips, thighs, and even your arms.

To use all of that power that your body is volunteering, it needs to literally be put into the ground.

That’s something called “force per stride” in the speed training community.

And it is the king when it comes to increase your running speed.

Now, it’s natural to just assume that, “Great! So all I need to do is increase the amount of force my body can create, so that way, I can put more of that force into the ground and in turn, easily increase my running speed.”

Not quite.

While that’s partially true, what you should understand is that all that force your hips and thighs are putting out HAS TO travel through your feet before it hits the ground.

And most athletes have poor feet that actually DENY a lot of those forces from ever being put into the ground.

So you could get really forceful and powerful and think you’re going to be running faster than a cheetah on caffeine, but if you totally ignored your feet, you’d probably find you’re not going any faster, at all.

It’s very possible that you’ve seen this yourself.

You get stronger, but don’t run any faster.

The key is to simply NOT ignore your feet in your training.

Train them and train them correctly.

Keep them healthy and pliable.

Use force progressions and stay consistent.

What you’ll soon find, most likely in a matter of days, is that you are all of the sudden running a LOT faster, moving a lot quicker and impressing your teammates to the point that they think you’re somehow “cheating”!

All because you didn’t ignore the one major missing piece in your quest to increase your running speed.

NOW, you probably want to know EXACTLY how to train your feet to be faster?
